Our History

WP Wesson & Co, Inc. is a fourth-generation family owned and operated business in Modesto, CA. Originally centered around materials and handling, our team branched off in the 1970s to start taking on new construction and remodels as well as large industrial construction projects. We have also have had the opportunity to work with some amazing companies such as Gallo Winery, Kelly-Moore Paints, Umpqua bank, and may others. Today, Walter P. Wesson (or Buddy) uses the knowledge passed down from the generations of his family before him to lead our team as well as acting as the key project manager and real estate broker for our clients.

As a family owned and operated company, we want to treat each of our clients as we do each member of our team, as apart of the family. We know that construction and real estate can be extremely stressful and overwhelming at times, which is why it is critical for us to build lasting relationships and trust with each of our clients who decide to work with us.

Our Company Principles

We believe that you can’t have a successful team without key principles to guide us day to day. Here is the list of principles that we strive to achieve each and every day. We ask each of our clients to grade us by these standards:

1. Communication – Without communication and clear direction, mistakes are made, and mistakes in this industry can be catastrophic. Because of this, we ensure that plans and goals are communicated in a manner that is clear and concise. Also, priorities and situations can rapidly shift and change throughout a single project. If this change is communicated between the team and the client, necessary alterations to strategy can be made to keep the project on track and get the job done. We strive to clearly and effectively communicate with our team members and client. This way, our work is always upheld to the utmost standard.

2. Teamwork – Without a coherent team, things are often forgotten and/or looked over. In this case, you are left with gaps that will limit the success of any team. We strive to pull our team together to target a clear and concise goals that will help us to finish any project on time and at our high standard of excellence.

3. Situational Awareness – Every project is complex, no matter the size. Because of the small nuances in projects, everyone on the team needs to have situational awareness to ensure that they do not negatively affect the project or another persons role in the project that will come later. This also mandates a clear vision of each individuals role in the larger picture of the entire project.

4. Planning – We utilize a method called “backwards-planning.” What we mean by this is we develop a clear vision of the end result or outcome of a project, whether this is a renovation, home or office build, etc. and we start planning back from the end result so we have a clearer idea of what exactly needs to be done at given increments throughout the project to achieve the end goal. This way, we can mitigate missed time-frames and deadlines and ensure the job is completed on time.

5. Stress-Control – As every job is uniquely complex, stress is likely to arise, whether this is because of an unforeseen obstruction to a job, materials being backordered, etc., things are likely to arise. Although things happen, we look at these circumstances in two ways: first, we exam what happened and why, and then how can we resolve the issue at hand to the best of our ability. This way, we can stay proactive rather than reactive to unforeseen circumstances.

6. Professionalism – Every meeting and job we are apart of is marked by our professionalism. When we commit to a job, we commit to you, our client. You should be treated with the utmost respect, whether this in a meeting, or on the job site. We only work with individuals who can uphold this standard and we expect nothing less from our team. With over 50 years of expertise, we are dedicated to serving you to the best of our ability.
